1. CALL TO ORDER
Commissioner Ford called the meeting to order at 6:48 p.m.
2. ATTENDANCE
MEMBERS PRESENT:

MEMBERS ABSENT:
Commissioner Kelly Sweeney

Fire Chief Dave Albert

3. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
Commissioner Ford asked for a motion to accept the minutes from March 5, 2025, Commissioner
Mangiafico so moved, Commissioner Salafia seconded, and all voted to accept the minutes as presented.

5. CORRESPONDENCE
 None
6. MONTHLY REPORT
 Chief Albert gave the monthly report:
o 346 calls for the month including:
 Small fire in South Fire District in which mutual aid was provided
 River incident/water rescue of kayaker
 Events:
 Assisted Hamden Fire Department with an additional candidate interview
 Monthly meeting held with the Chief of Staff
 Budget meeting with Mayor & Finance held – budget submitted for next
fiscal year

 Training/Monthly EMS
o Monthly EMS refresher done
o Bailout kit refresher done
o Simulation training done
o Aerial trucks went out for setup of various locations
7. OLD BUSINESS
o Overtime:
 Remains same
 Currently have 17% of the suppression staff out (10 out of 60) on either
FMLA, comp., light duty, or military
o Apparatus update:
 Repair line has been expended
 Chief Albert stated that at the next meeting he will have a detailed report from
the last two years of labor, service, fuel, & repair charges
o HQ
 Nothing new to report at this time
o Cross Street roof update:
 Getting ready for final roof inspection
 HVAC almost done
o Training Building:
 In the process of setting up a purchase order
o City Wide EMS:
 806 EMS calls with three mutual aid ambulances
8. NEW BUSINESS
o Liberty Bank made a donation of $3000 for the purchase of smoke detectors.
Chief Albert asked the Commission for a vote to move it forward to Finance &
Government.
o Councilman Ford asked for a motion to accept the check donation,
Councilman Mangiafico so moved, Councilwoman Salafia seconded, and
all voted in favor to pass to Finance & Government

11. Monthly Summary of Action Taken by the Telecommunications Committee
o Currently have 19 dispatchers with two vacant position that have been put on hold
o Deputy Director position closed on March 2
o Month had approximately 5,900 incidents, 1,845 9-1-1 calls, and 519 administrative calls
12. ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Ford entertained a motion to adjourn, Commissioner Mangiafico so
moved, Commissioner Salafia seconded, and the meeting was adjourned at 6:59 p.m.
