A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PREPARATION AND
SUBMISSION OF A GEORGIA OUTDOOR STEWARDSHIP
PROGRAM GRANT PRE-APPLICATION FOR THE TRUMAN
LINEAR PARK TRAIL PHASE IIB FOR THE CITY OF
SAVANNAH, GEORGIA.
WHEREAS, the Truman Linear Park Trail will be the first completed phase of the larger Tide to Town
trail concept plan, a thirty-mile network of on-and off-road bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure
connecting Savannah and Chatham County; and
WHEREAS, the completion of the Truman Linear Park Trail and the Tide to Town trail concept plan
directly support the City of Savannah's Savannah Forward strategic plan goals, as approved by City
Council, including increased multi-modal mobility, neighborhood connectivity and access to recreation;
and
WHEREAS, when completed, the Truman Linear Park Trail will link 827 acres of existing City and
County park and recreation facilities, and provide almost 9 miles of contiguous ADA accessible,
pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure for use by residents and visitors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Savannah City Council that this governing body
voices its support and agrees to submit a pre-application for funding from the Georgia Outdoor
Stewardship Program (GOSP) for the Truman Linear Park Trail Phase IIB.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Savannah City Council agrees that in the event the pre
application is recommended for funding by the Board of Trustees and Department of Natural Resources,
the Savannah City Council certifies and assures that is has the ability and intention to finance all project
elements that will be submitted for reimbursement, as well as the 38% total project match as submitted,
and will move forward with due diligence to prepare, or have prepared, appropriate documentation
required for a second-level GOSP application.
